12th International Day of Yoga 2026 Celebrated at Yenepoya University

The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm and active participation on 21 June 2026 at the Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The programme was organized by Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital in association with Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Yenepoya Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, and National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-I. The celebration was conducted under the global theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," emphasizing the vital role of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being across all stages of life.

The event commenced at 9:00 AM with the Mass Practice of the Common Yoga Protocol, wherein students, faculty members, and staff participated enthusiastically. The session highlighted the importance of regular yoga practice in maintaining overall health, enhancing quality of life, and preventing lifestyle-related disorders.

The formal inaugural programme began at 10:00 AM with an invocation prayer, followed by the welcome address. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the official inauguration of the celebration.

The programme was graced by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Shyamarraj Nidugala, who delivered an inspiring keynote address on the significance of yoga as a holistic approach to healthy living and graceful ageing. He encouraged the participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routine to achieve long-term health, wellness, and inner harmony.

The event was presided over by Dr. Aswini Dutt R. Distinguished dignitaries and patrons present on the occasion included Dr. Puneeth Raghavendra K. R., Dr. Gururaja H., Dr. Vijayendra V. Itagi, and Dr. Ashwini Shetty. They addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of yoga in fostering a balanced lifestyle and enhancing overall well-being.

A comprehensive report on the activities conducted as part of the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations was presented during the programme. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony, where winners of various competitions organized in connection with the Yoga Day celebrations were felicitated and awarded.

The programme concluded with the Presidential Address, Vote of Thanks, and the National Anthem. Refreshments were served to all participants.

The celebration was a grand success, creating awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga and inspiring participants to adopt yoga as a way of life for healthy ageing, holistic health, and overall well-being.
