Pathology
Pathology provides a comprehensive knowledge of the mechanisms and causes of disease to comprehend fully the natural history and clinical manifestations of disease. The student will learn to describe the processes which govern the maintenance of homeostasis, the pathophysiology of disease processes and their clinical manifestations. The student will also learn to perform with proper procedure simple bed side tests on biological fluid samples like blood, urine etc.
Microbiology
Microbiology provides a comprehensive knowledge of the natural history, mechanisms and causes of infectious disease, including etiology, pathogenesis, laboratory diagnosis, treatment and control of diseases in the community. Student will understand the micro-organisms (bacteria, virus, fungus, parasites & others) infecting the human body with the pathogenesis of the diseases, sources and modes of transmission, including insect vectors, of pathogenic and opportunistic organisms; along with the laboratory investigations for bacteriological examination of food, water and air.
