The Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports, Government of Karnataka, in association with Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College & Hospital and National Service Scheme (NSS) - Unit I, is set to host a Special Camp from February 19th to 25th, 2025, at Ambedkar Bhavana, Balepuni Gram Panchayat.
The grand inauguration will take place on February 19th at 10:30 AM and will be graced by esteemed dignitaries. The event will be inaugurated by Mr. Venkatesh P, who serves as the PDO of Balepuni GP and Assistant Director at Ullal Taluk Panchayat. The Chief Guest for the event will be Mrs. Sukanya Rai, the President of Balepuni Panchayat. The program will be presided over by Dr. Puneeth Raghavendra K.R, the Principal of YNYSCH. The Guests of Honor will include Mr. Krishna Moolya, the Director of Jana Shiksha Seva Trust and Sheena Shetty,Swatha Abhiyaan Ambassador. Special Guests attending the event will include Dr. Ashwini S. Shetty, the NSS Coordinator of Yenepoya University.
The organizing committee is led by Mr. Ajith K, who serves as the NSS Program Officer at YNYSCH, along with dedicated NSS Leaders, Mr. Ashith.The camp had engaged volunteers in a variety of community-driven initiatives. These include health awareness campaigns that will offer free health checkups and wellness education for villagers. The camp also conducts Shramadan (voluntary service), which will focus on cleaning public premises and promoting hygiene. There was yoga and skill development sessions aimed at enhancing physical well-being and personal growth. Self-defense and leadership training programs had been conducted to empower youth for the future. Environmental conservation activities, such as plantation drives and school cleaning programs, are organized. Additionally, cultural and literary programs had provided a platform for showcasing talents and fostering community bonding.
Each day of the camp will begin with flag hoisting, the NSS song, and a yoga session, followed by surveys, awareness drives, guest talks, and skill-building sessions. The camp had concluded with a Valedictory Program on February 25th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, celebrating the contributions of volunteers and their impact on the community. This NSS Special Camp aims to empower youth, bridge communities, and inspire social change, fostering leadership, responsibility, and service among students.
